Upper West Side Apartment

Manhattan, New York

Although a small pied-a-terre apartment, the goal was to create a series of small moments that would give the overall space an unexpected sense of greater depth and scale. This was achieved by creating articulated and detailed areas, such as entry, kitchen, bedroom, and dressing, that get intimately used, and as such play up the scale of the living room. Transitions and relations between spaces are kept open, yet defined so as no not lose the spatial definitions of each area. The sum of all defined individual spaces, open between each other, is what creates the depth and scale that makes the apartment feel larger.
